The title «People’s» was given to. The museum in 1996. This title was confirmed in 2010 and 2019. The museum is located in two rooms on the first floor of the shod building. The total expositional area of the first room is 75 sq-m. The total number of museum exhibits is 15 thousand: 5,5 thousand exhibits constitute the main fund, 9.5 thousand are auxiliary. According to the requirements, the exhibits are registered and classified. Records are kept in the books «Accounting for exhibits of the main fund» and «Accounting for exhibits of the scientific auxiliary fund». There are acts of transferring exhibits to state museums. 26 thematic excursions are worked out and are being conducted. During the period from 2013 to 2018, the exposition of the museum was replenished with 1,065 exhibits. The following rarities: are among them: a casting mold for earrings (VIII-IX centuries. Stone), battle axes (XII-XIV centuries. Iron), a stone ax with a hole (II millennium BC), knife-shaped silicon microliths. (Mesolithic), an Viking buckle (XI century, copper), an ace of Domitian coin 89 AD, fund. Golden Horde (XIII century), an arrowhead (XII century Iron), Rzeczpospolita award – Cross «For Courage», Medal «Battle of Berezinskoe» in 1857, documents on the sale of the Druya estate (signed by Yevgeny Milosha), cross of the XIX century … from the estate Zabolotye Dmakhovsky. The museum consistently reveals the history of Miory region from ancient times to the present day.
In the archaeological department of the museum there are tools of the Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron ages, finds from burial mounds. These are scrapers, awls, knives, incisors, flint punctures, stone drill axes, Adzes. Among the jewelry items made of copper and bronze, glass X-XIII century. – bracelets, beads, rings, neck hryvnia, grasshopper-amulet, weapons of those times. Isolated finds in Belarus – images of a dog on ceramics of the II millennium BC, a country road with a runic inscription of the XII century, a stone axe with an ornament, etc. A separate sub-section consists of archaeological finds from China, Greece, and Siberia.
The numismatic collection contains more than 1000 coins. The rarest coin of Ancient China is the fyn of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, it is 2200 years old. A single find in Belarus is a Roman coin of 280 AD of the Emperor Maximian, fakes of Arab dirhams of their century have no analogues in the world. In the department, coins of the XVI-XVIII centuries, the coin hoard of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Russia of the XVI-XIX centuries, and foreign countries are widely presented.
A separate section of the museum is Bonistics. It reflects the history of paper money in Germany, Poland, Russia, the USSR and other countries of the world.
Extremely interesting materials are placed in the section «from the centuries of the past». It contains materials about the war of 1812, the uprisings of 1831, and 1863. The remains of weapons, awards, photos, documents allow visitors to more vividly imagine the events of those times. The exhibits of this section also tell about the history of the cities of Miory, Disna, the village of Perebrodye, the abolition of serfdom.
The exhibits of the section «Miorshchyna at the beginning of the XX century» introduce the Stolypin reform in our region, the events of the First World War, the Civil War, and the Soviet-Polish War. Relics, photographs, and documents make it possible to perceive the heroic and tragic events of those times more emotionally.
«Our Land in 1921-1939» is an exhibition dedicated to the difficult social and national situation of our people in the interwar period. Here, every document or exhibit is a reminder of the bitter fate of Belarusians during the rule of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Guides, using original materials, tell about the figures of the liberation movement in this period: Ya. Maletsky, P. Metla, K. Kruk, E. Drozdovich, M. Skelenko, etc.
Two sections of the museum are dedicated to the Second World War. Original documents, memoirs and photographs cover the crimes of the fascist invaders, the struggle of partisans and underground workers, the participation of our fellow countrymen in the European Resistance Movement. Awards and military relics tell about the natives of Miorshchyna, who courageously fought in the Brest fortress, defended Belarus and Moscow, fought at Stalingrad and Kursk, took Berlin, smashed Japanese samurai, fought against the fascists in Africa and Italy, France. Valuable exhibits of these sections: letters from the front of Sergeant Cheremnykh, who died during the liberation of Miory, certificates of participants of the resistance movement in Europe: A. Laguna, A. Avlasevicha, S. Matelenka. Interesting sources on the history of the partisan movement several volumes of memoirs of partisans Shelest I. P., Kabranova I. A.
Documents and materials of the section «Glory, Miorshchyna, hardworking region» show the development of education, agriculture, industry, and culture of the region after the war. We are especially proud of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Vice Admiral E. A. Tomko, and the founder of the museum and library in London, Bishop Czeslaw Sipowicz. The exhibition contains original exhibits about their activities: personal belongings, photographs, certificates, books.
A separate section of the museum «gifts of our friends» consists of exhibits received as a gift from visitors. There are hundreds of books with autographs of authors, albums, souvenirs not only from Belarus, but also from different countries of the world.
The museum conducts the compilation of the chronicle of the circle «Argonauts of the past» (5 volumes) and the history of the museum (7 volumes).
The main areas of research work of the historical museum are archeology, genealogy, research of architectural monuments, numismatics, ethnography and folklore, study of military history, Bonistics, participation in conferences, communication with archives and state museums, organization of exhibitions.
The main forms of work: conducting archaeological surveys in order to find new archaeological sites, exhibits of the ancient history of the region, classification and accounting of archaeological finds in the museum, consulting with archaeologists, assisting them in conducting excavations, collecting and systematizing documents, metric books that help researchers to compile their genealogies or genealogies of the gentry families of Miorschyna and Disnenschyna. Friends of the circle always show a significant interest in the study and search for coins, treasures, and booms. During classes in the museum of the Argonauts of the Past club, students not only identify coins, but also study them, as well as clean them from oxides and rust. The creation of the map «Coins and treasures of Miorschyna» continues. From 2013 to 2015, the museum received 877 coins and booms. School competitions are held for the most interesting exhibit for the museum “Treasures of the grandmother’s chest”. The museum has workshops: “Living Archeology”, “Crafts of my ancestors”, etc. Students not only take part in the classification, accounting and restoration of exhibits, but also create models of weapons, architectural and archaeological monuments.
